Seven Stories

Where: Newcastle-upon-Tyne
Take your children to Seven Stories, the only exhibition space in the UK dedicated to the celebration of British children's literature. Here you'll find something for all the family, from great exhibitions and family activities to storytelling and talks with authors and illustrators. There's also an exciting and fascinating treasure trove of artwork and manuscripts from authors and illustrators. Afterwards, head to the huge bookshop, where you'll find books for children of all ages.

Dairyland Farm World

Where: Newquay, Cornwall
If your family love animals, take them to Dairyland Farm World. This all-weather attraction is a great way to teach children about animals and country life. Your children will love the Bullpen indoor play area, and you can join in too. In the farm park, children have the chance to hold some of the farm animals and take pony rides, and in Clarabelle's Milking Parlour, they can see how cows are milked and even have a go themselves.

Knights' Quest at Alnwick Castle

Where: Northumberland
For a family day out with a difference, head to Alnwick Castle. This glorious medieval castle has been the setting for many great films including Harry Potter. And if having a whole castle to explore isn't enough, your children will love Knights' Quest, where they can experience what it was like to be a real Knight or Lady. Belfast Zoo

Where: Belfast
Belfast Zoo makes a great day out for the whole family. The first thing you'll notice about the zoo is its stunning location. Set in a picturesque mountain park above the city, the zoo gives great views of Loch Lagan and Belfast itself. There are animals from Africa, Asia and South America in the zoo, including gorillas, red pandas, spectacled bears, rare tamarins and marmosets. You can also get a great underwater view of sea lions and penguins, which your children will love.

Deep Sea World

Where: Fife, Scotland
Known as 'Scotland's Shark Capital', Deep Sea World is Scotland's largest aquarium, with over 2,000 aquatic animals and one of the largest collections of sharks in Europe. Stand under one of the longest underwater tunnels in the world, explore the Amazon rainforest and enjoy the spectacular live theatre which bring the creatures of the deep to life.
