The Orkney Museum tells the story of Orkney from its first settlers in the Stone Age to AD1800. Displays include galleries on the Picts and the Vikings, including the finds from a Viking boat grave. It is set in Tankerness House, which dates from 1574. The house forms a courtyard, and there are gardens at the back that are free to the public at all times.
