This Italianate villa in Scarborough was built in the 1840s as part of The Crescent. The Gallery has two rooms devoted to displaying works from the Borough's art collection. There are oils and watercolours of Scarborough, by artists from the nineteenth century such as James Wilson Carmichael and Atkinson Grimshaw. Also on display are nationally important artists from the twentieth century such as Ivon Hitchens and Matthew Smith.
Works in store can be viewed by prior arrangement with the Curator, or Assistant Curator of Art.
The gallery also has an exciting programme of temporary exhibitions.
