Chipchase Castle is one of the best examples of Jacobean architecture in the borders. The 14thC pele tower is very well preserved and gives insight into living conditions during the turbulent times of the border raids. The gardens are filled with interest, a walled vegetable garden, wild garden with lake, fine mature trees, spring bulbs, rhododendrons, roses, shrubs and herbaceous borders.
