During the annual Foyle Film Festival, Derry's cinemas offer 10 days of premières, film-making workshops and masterclasses. The award categories are Best Feature, Best Irish Short, Best International Short, Best Documentary and Best Animation.
The festival was founded in 1987 and started handing out its Light in Motion awards in 1999. In 2012, the event celebrates its 25th birthday.
