The annual British National Dance Championships take place at Blackpool's Winter Gardens. Expect sparks to fly as the expert Latin and ballroom dancers, resplendent in ruffles and slick-backed hair, battle it out.
Competitors engage in the waltz, tango, rumba, samba, cha cha cha, jive and paso doble, hoping to impress the judges with their flair, style and shimmering personalities. Look out for bronzed couples in tight-fitting, outlandish outfits and glossy make-up.
The Blackpool Dance Festival began in 1920, and the Winter Gardens presented the first British Open Championships in 1931, making it the home of British dance.
By Road: the M55 takes you straight into Blackpool from the M6.
By Rail: there are regular services from Preston and Manchester.
