The World Press Photo exhibition returns to the Southbank Centre's Royal Festival Hall. This year, it showcases the best photos selected from a pool of over 100,000 entries. The collection from across the globe is powerful, moving and at times disturbing.

The World Press Photo is widely recognised as one of the world's most prestigious photography competitions. Each year leading professional news photographers enter, with work by the winners and runners-up going into a large touring exhibition that visits over 40 countries across the world.

The subjects explored range from the shocking to the sublime, the beautiful to the barely believable, and include war-torn communities struggling for survival; an alleged adulterer being savagely stoned; and occasionally lush flashes of hope and optimism.
