At the Leicester Comedy Festival, the laughter is guaranteed to end in tears (but only of the hilarious kind). Now the longest-running comedy festival in the UK, it always has a packed programme, encompassing comedy film theatre, poetry, photography and art.
The Leicester Comedy Festival started in 1994 and its line of past acts is hard to beat, including such favourites as Jo Brand, Jack Dee, Rory Bremner, Phil Kay, Barry Cryer, Alan Davies, Jeremy Hardy, Bill Bailey, Rhona Cameron and Ross Noble.
Confirmed for 2013 are Terry Alderton, Alan Davies, Jenny Eclair, Milton Jones, Russell Kane, Al Murray, Rob Rouse, Paul Tonkinson and Sean Walsh as well as Johnny Vegas and the cast of Ideal.
