Originally, in 1998, tied to National Poetry Day in October, StAnza: Scotland's Poetry Festival has been so successful that it now has a stand-alone spot in March. As usual, it takes place at venues throughout St Andrews.
Building up through its run to over 20 events a day, in 2012 visiting poets include Lavinia Greenlaw, Alistair Moffatt, Kwarme Dawes, Lucilla Sim, Michael Symmons Roberts, Robert Crawford, Norman McBeath and many more.
There's also a tribute to Philip Larkin (featuring David Hayman), and a vibrant visual art strand too, with exhibitions films and installations, under one of this year's themes - The image. The other theme, Poetry by Degrees, looks at poertry in education, by way of celebrating the 600th anniversary of the University of St Andrews.
