The art market has long been recognised for peddling its wares at over-inflated prices. The twice-yearly Affordable Art Fair (AAF) in Battersea Park provides an antidote, offering a relaxed, unstuffy environment for visitors to browse, buy and learn about art.
The fair is about accessible art in unintimidating surroundings. You can still spot the odd famous name on the walls - though it's more likely to be an etching than a five-foot painting. If you're willing to go for someone less well-known, you can pick up everything from ceramics to holograms.
Galleries from the UK and abroad exhibit a wide range of contemporary art including sculpture, paintings and photography with prices ranging from £40 to £4000. There are also free workshops and art classes, as well as events for children and families.
By Train: to Battersea Park and Queenstown Road.
