Northern Ireland is promoting itself as the place to visit in 2012. With a tagline of "Our time, Our Place", it is rebranding Northern Ireland as confident, inviting, positive, dynamic and proud - celebrating with a host of exciting events.
From April to the end of the year, a series of major events, festivals and openings showcase the region. It begins with the Titanic Belfast Festival 2012, a spectacular event that commemorates the Titanic's fateful voyage in 1912 with the opening of the ultra-modern Titanic Visitor Centre, music and light shows.
In June, the Peace One Day Concert takes place in Derry-Londonderry, marking the opening of London 2012 Festival of the Olympic and Paralympic Games. At the end of the month, Land of Giants entertains the crowds at Belfast Titanic slipways with pyrotechnics and performing arts, telling a tale inspired by Northern Ireland's literature and heritage.
Other events include Deborah Warner's Coastal Installation; the Clipper Round the World Yacht Race & Maritime Festival in Derry, the opening of the new Giant's Causeway Visitor Centre; and the 50th anniversary of the Belfast Festival at Queens. And more events are in the pipeline.
