Theatre: New Writing

Re-uniting the team behind the award-winning, world-travelling production of war classic RC Sherriff's Journey's End, the Duchess Theatre presents the West End debut of Jonathan Lewis' 1993 modern military drama Our Boys. Cian Barry, Arthur Darvill, Laurence Fox and Matthew Lewis star.

What happens when five young soldiers'  daily routine of TV, lonely hearts ads and light-hearted banter is shattered by the arrival of unwelcome authority in the shape of a young officer fresh from Sandhurst? A dangerous incident and act of betrayal jeaopordises the squaddies' camaraderie amidst charges of misconduct and a volley of accusations.  Only then does the real fighting start...

Based on the author's own army experience, this taut drama is as relevent now as during the First Gulf War when it was written.  David Grindley directs.
