Not to be missed events in Brighton

Brighton is the hub of gay life south of the capital, and its events and passionate LGBT community reflect that. Hosting not only the largest free Pride festival in Britain, there are a multitude of festivals that celebrate all that is diverse and unique about the city.

Gay and Lesbian Specific

Brighton Pride
The biggest free Pride Festival in the UK with over 70 events ranging from fundraising to seminars and debates. But the biggest and most eagerly awaited event of the week is the Carnival Parade and Pride March, which always takes place on the Saturday. The whole town gets in the spirit of the event with the streets turned over to the party that makes its way along the sea front and on to Preston Park. Attracting over 120,000 visitors each year, it is one of the biggest gay and lesbian events in the country.

Gay and Lesbian Interest

Brighton Festival
The largest arts festival in England runs for three weeks every year and attracts visitors from around the British Isles and beyond, looking to immerse themselves in the city's flourishing culture – maybe picking up some original art work along the way. Celebrating Brighton’s rich heritage, its exciting future and its diverse community, the festival hosts many special events in theatres, cinemas, galleries and clubs around the city.

Brighton Festival Fringe
Running alongside the main Brighton festival, the Fringe has become the second largest Fringe in the world (Edinburgh takes the top spot). Street performers, outdoor spectacles and other organized cultural events make up the three-week celebrations.

The Great Escape Festival
Over 300 new local and international artists are packed into one busy weekend which welcomes well over 10,000 music-lovers from every corner of the globe. Debuting in 2006, the festival has grown steadily and is now spread across 34 venues around Brighton. A weekend wristband entitles you to all the gigs, club nights and after-parties the festival has to offer - and there truly is something for everyone.

London to Brighton Veteran Car Run
Made famous by the film Genevieve and the world's longest running motoring event, the London to Brighton car run offers a fantastic opportunity to catch extraordinary automobiles on the 60 mile run from Hyde Park to Brighton.
