Not to be missed events in Manchester
As the centre of gay life in the north of England, Manchester has plenty to offer in the way of gay events, whether it's the famous Pride festival, cultural happenings taking place in music, dance and theatre or diary dates to appeal to more specific parts of the LGBT community.
Pride Games is the UK's only annual LGBT multi-sports event, with 25 events over eight days of healthy fun activities and sports tournaments.
Manchester Gay Skins Weekend
Now in its 8th year, the annual Gay Skins Weekend sees a number of bars such as The Eagle, Rem Bar and Legends host a number of events for skinheads and their fans.
Sparkle Transgender Festival
Sparkle is a three day celebration of all things transgender. The event is the largest gathering of trans people in the UK and brings together the trans community, their friends and families in Manchester to celebrate gender diversity.
Manchester Pride is 22 years young in 2012. What began as a small bring and buy sale has now evolved into an award winning international event which includes pride fringe, the Big Weekend, the colourful Pride Parade and the HIV Candlelit Vigil. The event has won ‘Best UK Pride’ for the last five years, attracts thousands of revellers and raises huge amounts of money for LGBT charities.
Great British Bear Bash (GBBB)
The bears come out of hibernation and the Gay Village comes alive with the GBBB, as a number of bars host events and themed nights catering for bears, cubs, daddies, chasers and chubs.
Manchester International Festival
The Manchester International Festival is the world’s first international festival of original new work and special events. The biennial festival will return to Manchester in 2013, with 18 extraordinary days of world premieres, across a complete spectrum of performance arts.
Manchester Food and Drink Festival
This annual event each October is a gastro extravaganza. A celebration of everything that is excellent about food and drink in Manchester.
