Here you can download some striking and inspirational wallpaper images and photos showing all your favourite places and sights in Britain. To start downloading, select a wallpaper from one of the region sections in the menu on the left. Once you've decided which one you want to download, following the instructions below depending on what type of computer you have.
WINDOWS:
1. Choose an image and click the link below which matches your screen resolution (to check this, right click on your desktop and select Properties >> Settings - your resolution is shown under Screen Area, bottom right of the Properties box).
2. A full size version of your desktop wallpaper will then appear in a new browser window.
3. Click on the image with your right mouse button and a Windows menu will pop-up.
4a. Click on Set as Wallpaper or Set as Background, alternatively...
4b. Right-click on the image and choose Save Image As, choose a file name, add .jpg and save the image to your desktop. From the Start menu, go to Settings >> Control Panel >> Display >> Background - then choose Browse, go to Desktop, open the .jpg file and click OK.
5. Your VisitBritain Desktop Wallpaper will then appear on your desktop.
MACINTOSH OSX:
1. Choose an image and click the link below which matches your screen resolution - to check this, click on the Apple menu and select System Preferences >> Displays.
2. A full size version of your desktop wallpaper will then appear in a new browser window.
3. Hold down Ctrl, click the image and choose Save Image to the Desktop.
4. Hold down Ctrl and - at the same time - click on your desktop.
5. Choose Change Desktop Background and click on the Desktop tab in the Desktop & Screensaver pop-up menu.
6. Select Choose Folder >> Desktop and navigate to the downloaded image then click Choose (bottom right) and close the Desktop & Screensaver menu.
7. Your VisitBritain Desktop Wallpaper will then appear on your desktop.
MACINTOSH OS 9:
1. Choose an image and click the link below which matches your screen resolution - to check this, click on the Apple menu and select Control Panel.
2. A full size version of your desktop wallpaper will then appear in a new browser window.
3. Hold down Ctrl, click the image and choose Download Image to Disk.
4. Save the image to your hard drive (in System >> Appearance >>Desktop Pictures).
5. From the Apple menu, select Control Panel >> Appearance.
6. From the Desktop tab, click Place Picture and browse to your your wallpaper image.
7. Select Position Automatically from the Position pop-up menu and click Set Desktop.
8. Your VisitBritain Desktop Wallpaper will then appear on your desktop.
