National Meetings Week 2009

National Meetings Week is an annual awareness week which aims to raise the profile of the UK meetings and events industry to the wider business market across the UK.  Every year National Meetings Week focuses on the £22 billion-a-year contribution which meetings and events make to the UK economy, the 1.78 million jobs supported, the importance of delegate care, and the positive benefits which effective meetings bring to business communications and motivation.

One of the key mouthpieces for the UK meetings industry is National Meetings Week, a VisitBritain led campaign and one that has steadily grown into one of the clearest examples of the UK meetings industry promoting itself. For this reason, VisitBritain is once again encouraging support for National Meetings Week.

We are also changing the focus of the campaign to reflect the tough business environment out there, looking at a more business focused strategy, based on three simple messages:

  •  Buy meetings
  •  Buy British
  •  Britain means value
There has never been a better time to meet in Britain.

The campaign, now in its ninth year, has grown rapidly and is now looking to take another step forward for the industry.

National Meetings Week 2009 will take place from 21-28 September.
