Integrating Sustainability into the National Quality Assessment Standards
The National Quality Assessment Standards(NQAS) used within Britain have been developed over many years to reflect the quality levels of accommodation businesses to consumers, where as the Visitor Attractions Quality Assurance service aims to provide a minimum level of quality within attractions of varying size.
Standards are developed following extensive consumer research and industry consultation and on occasion may not be reviewed for a number of years. This coupled with the rapidly developing understanding of sustainability for consumers as well as operators, there maybe confusion between what is being asked in the standards vs sustainable principles. The advice provided in the leaflets below are an initial attempt to provide best practice guidance on areas that could cause confusion.
Guidance (in the form of PDF leaflets to download) is currently available to the following sectors of accommodation and attractions
Guest Accommodation
Holiday Parks
Holiday Villages
Hostel Accommodation
Hotels
Self Catering Accommodation
Visitor Attractions
