Cookstown

The interesting and historic town of Cookstown and its surrounding countryside is well worth exploring and has a lot to offer the visitor.

Cookstown is famous for having the longest and widest street in Northern Ireland, which is a haven for a variety of shops and businesses. The range of shops extends from small family stores to much larger chain stores. There is ample free parking providing a real paradise for shopping. On Saturdays, Cookstown’s main shopping area comes alive with a bustling, vibrant street market which has a Royal Charter date back to the17th century.

It has a diversity of interests to accommodate all visitors to the area. Cookstown District has an abundance of tourist attractions varying from Neolithic monuments, National Trust properties, forest parks and a picturesque marina. The main sporting activities in the area are walking, cycling, golfing and angling. Guided tours are available through the tourist information centre and are an excellent way to discover Cookstown.

Accommodation in the area is available to suit everyone’s budget. It ranges from hotels and bed & breakfasts to self-catering cottages.

Entertainment in Cookstown is excellent. If you are into pubs, clubs or theatre, the array of establishments should host a fun packed night. The Burnavon Arts & Cultural Centre is the first of its kind in mid-Ulster. Performances range from drama to live concerts.

Cookstown eagerly awaits your arrival and will prove to be an enjoyable experience.
