Gorey

From it's eastern vantage point, the island’s internationally important ‘Ramsar’ wetlands roll-out before you. In the company of one of Jersey’s marine wildlife experts, take the intriguingly titled ‘Moonwalk’, a guided tour through one of the world’s most outstanding inter-tidal habitats, to discover a cratered ‘moon’ surface left by the receding tide. Encounter sanderlings, curlews and oystercatchers in their continual forage at the water’s edge, or admire from a distance the spectacular display as flocks of waders take to the air in a flurry of wings. Languish in the sun on a terrace overlooking the charming Gorey harbour. Breathe the crisp sea air, whilst indulging in a ‘fruits de mer’ or take lunch in the gardens of the Jersey Pottery’s award-winning restaurant, the children having already tried their hand at the Glaze Craze.

Discover remote coves on a canoe safari, delight in a coastal cruise in a glass bottomed boat or witness the rewarding spectacle of dolphins up close and in the wild on a catamaran charter. For the young at heart, water-skiing and windsurfing are available from Gorey Beach. Golfers will know that the east coast course at Royal Jersey was home to six times British Open winner Harry Vardon.
