Day-time in Bath

Roman Baths

City Heritage

Bath owes its importance to its hot springs – unique to Britain. The Romans built a great bathing complex here. You can see for yourself the most impressive Roman remains in Britain superbly preserved and presented at the marvellous Roman Baths Museum. It was during the 18th century, however, that the city really bloomed. Made fashionable by Richard 'Beau' Nash and made beautiful by the architecture of the two John Woods (father and son), explore on foot The Circus, the Royal Crescent, the Guildhall, the Assembly Rooms and Pulteney Bridge, as the finest examples of their work with the local honey-coloured Bath stone.
