Tour Belfast
For a relaxing summer excursion, nothing beats cycling down the tree-lined cycleways of the Lagan towpath where you can enjoy some of Europe's loveliest parks. Pack a picnic then hire a bike at Life Cycles (www.lifecycles.co.uk/) (36-37 Smithfield Market. T: 028 9043 9959), and head for lunch at the world's most beautiful rose garden at Sir Thomas and Lady Dixon Park. You could also enjoy a three-hour Life Cycles guided tour of the city itself.
The Lagan Boat Company (www.laganboatcompany.com/) (Donegall Quay. T: 028 9033 0844) runs regular boat trips to the Harland and Wolff shipyards that created the Titanic and other great liners. It also offers trips down the Lagan river. Why not end the day with a refreshing drink and meal at nearby historic McHugh's Pub, or Tedford's seafood restaurant in an old ship's chandlers?
