Nightlife
Brighton’s club scene is internationally known for its innovation, variety and hipness. On any one night you can choose between jazz, soul, R 'n' B, techno, indie, funk, gay, house, salsa, 60s, 70s, 80s, & 90s. Live music is a way of life in Brighton, in both pubs and clubs. Well-known DJs are always in town and clubbers travel from far and wide for a night at The Zap or The Beach Club. Find out who’s where and what’s playing from one of the many local listings magazines, or alternatively pick up a copy of the month’s events. For just 25p, ‘The List’ is available from the Visitor Information Centre in the Royal Pavilion Shop.
Brighton has a veritable plethora of pubs and bars, which range from simple to smart, hip to traditional. Throw in a local celebrity and you have everything a local pub should have. For fine breweries and excellent real ales, head to the Hand in Hand in St James Street or the Font and Firkin in Union Street.
