Day-time in Canterbury
Sport
The St Lawrence Ground in Canterbury – home of Kent County Cricket Club – is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful cricket grounds in the country, and has been voted best cricket ground in the UK by both ‘The Times’ newspaper and ‘The Cricketer Magazine’.
Famed for having a Lime Tree within the boundary, the St Lawrence has also been the home to some of England’s most famous cricketing heroes – heard of Colin Cowdrey, Frank Woolley, Leslie Ames, Godfrey Evans, Alan Knott or Derek Underwood?
Come and watch a game and you might even spot a well-known international on the pitch. Kent has been successfully attracting some of the world’s foremost players, being one of only three teams to have played in the top division of both leagues since the two-division system came into being.
