Night-time in Edinburgh
Ceilidhs at the Caley
For a traditional Scottish night out, why not go to a Ceilidh at the Caley (Ceilidh is gaelic for "gathering of people"). Edinburgh's Caledonian Brewery is host to these gatherings, which take place on a regular basis throughout the year.
With live bands playing traditional music there are no excuses for not getting up and joining in the fun with the locals!
The dances take place in the Festival Hall, a converted barley store. Facilities are up to date and well designed, whilst the historic character of the building has been maintained.
These events attract a mixed crowd and they're great for first timers. There is a caller on hand to walk you through the dances. There is no dress code, but many Scots come dressed in kilts. For a physical, frantic and, above all fun, night the Caley is the place to go!
