The Printworks or Peter Street offer cheerful clubbing excess at the weekends, or if you want something a little more exclusive try Deansgate Locks. The Gay Village is one of the most stylish parts of the city and parties long into the night, every day of the week.

Manchester has made an enormous contribution to music and this wouldn’t have been possible without its network of live venues. They range from small venues like the Roadhouse and Night and Day, on to the mid-sized Academy and Carling Apollo, and up to the 21,000 capacity M.E.N Arena.

The Bridgewater Hall is a must-visit for any music lover. This modern, purpose built concert venue is home to three orchestras, including the world famous Hallé. It also boasts an incredibly varied programme of classical and contemporary music. The old guard to the avant-garde, side by side.
