Wensleydale Dairy, Hawes
Situated in the market town of Hawes, you'll find cheesemakers at Wensleydale Creamery offer tastings of their award-winning crumbly white Wensleydale and the smoother, robust, blue veined variety. Wensleydale cheese has been made in Wensleydale since 1150, when the Cistercian monks first settled in the dale, and established a monastery just 4 miles from Hawes.
Theakston's Brewery, Masham, Ripon
Visit Theakston's Brewery in picturesque Masham - a village with its own breed of sheep - where Simon Theakston runs the brewery where his great-great grandfather brewed the first ever pint of Theakston's beer. See the brewers at work in the visitor centre, and enjoy the results of their labours -especially their 'Old Peculiar Strong Ale'.
