Katy Livingston's perfect day

Katy Livingston

Katy Livingston is a Great Britain Modern Pentathlete, and is currently ranked 16th in the world. Born in Cleveland in the north of England, Katy's long term goal is to compete at the London Olympics in 2012 and win the gold medal. Here Katy tells us about a perfect day she's had watching her favourite football team at Cardiff's Millennium Stadium.

"Waking up with the excitement in your stomach that you know today could be a special day, we jumped on the train to Cardiff and the excitement built as blue and white shirts filled the carriages.

At Bristol Temple Meads the train was crammed full as supporters from Hartlepool and Sheffield changed onto our line.

Pulling into Cardiff station we stepped into a sea of blue and white stripes, the streets swarming with fans and the air thick with the din of horns and songs. I had never seen or heard anything like it before.

We joined the exodus to the Sheffield Wednesday end of the Millennium stadium, a blue and white river of hope, nerves and anticipation.

The shining sun and the passion of British football fans create an atmosphere that cannot be found anywhere else. Football makes your heart pump, in just 90 minutes you can experience amazing highs and lows. It's a rollercoaster that can change direction at any second!

Entering the top tier of the stadium took my breath away as forty thousand Wednesday fans were in full voice. Flags waving, horns sounding and the players doing a group huddle on the pitch, it was kick-off time…

…Today the game went our way, 4-2 after extra-time. What an amazing experience! I might never experience a match like this again in my lifetime, but the memories and emotions of the day remain strong two years on. For a Sheffield Wednesday (www.swfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/Welcome) fan, this truly was a perfect day!"
