SELTIC - English Language Courses in Scotland

Scotland is an ideal place to learn English. It boasts a flourishing business environment with strong international links, a great education system, breathtaking countryside and vibrant cities.

Scotland's history and culture are distinct from that of England. Nevertheless, it has much in common with the other countries of the United Kingdom, not least the English language.

SELTIC

SELTIC – Scottish English Language Teaching in Consortium – brings together all the institutions that offer English language tuition in Scotland. All members must be British Council Accredited and offer great customer care, teaching quality and value for money.

SELTIC members include Universities, Further Education Colleges and Private English Language Schools and are situated around Scotland, see the web site for a full listing: www.seltic.org.uk.

Types of courses

  • General English
  • English for academic purposes 
  • English for professional/special purposes
  • Courses for juniors (9 to 17 year olds) – some provide "all-in" packages including language teaching, leisure activities and accommodation
  • English Language teacher training offering internationally recognised qualifications like TESOL, CELTA and ICELT
  • Summer courses – for both teachers and students
  • Access and foundation courses for entry into British universities and colleges

Social & cultural programme

All members offer varied programmes of cultural and social activities including activities such as sightseeing, Scottish country dancing, golf, football and walking to mountaineering, white water rafting and surfing.

Accommodation

Most members can arrange accommodation, usually offering homestay throughout the year and university halls of residence during the summer.  Some courses are residential.
