BUNAC work profiles
If you're not yet convinced about experiencing life in the UK, here's some people who loved living and working in Britain. You can get more information about working programmes in Britain with BUNAC (www.bunac.org).
Scott DeCoste
From: Mattie Settlement, Canada
Scott decided to spend a year in London and took full advantage of the location, from enjoying the views over the river Thames to having a chat with friends over a pint at the very same pub as Karl Marx once did. The time that Scott spent in the UK continues to impact his life, “My time there gave me friends I will keep forever as well as a sense of adventure that brings me in places I would never have imagined possible.”
Stephanie Powell
From: Illinois, USA
Stephanie spent a summer working in Britain as an alternative to studying abroad. Highlights of her trip were attending Wimbledon and going on an outdoor adventure trip to Wales. Stephanie believes that all college students should spend an extended time abroad because, “Never again in your life will you have an opportunity to pack up your things for a few months and explore the UK.”
Larissa Zepko
From: Connecticut, USA
Larissa wanted to travel to London to gain professional experience after graduating from university. An internship in finance achieved that goal, but what really impressed her was the excitement of living in a global city, after coming from rural Connecticut. From travelling on the tube to seeing a play in Regent’s Park to taking weekend trips to Continental Europe, Larissa counts her six months in the UK as one of the most exciting times of her life so far.
Shanley Pinchotti
From: Maryland, USA
Although Shanley lived in London during her time working in the UK, that did not stop her from experiencing the great outdoors. Mountain biking, rock scrambling and canoeing were just some of the activities that she took part in while there, in addition to appreciating the theatre and museums in the city. Shanley loved having such a busy schedule, “Living in Britain is such a unique experience and it would be a shame to have it pass you by without getting everything out of it that you can.”
