Motorcyclists & cyclists
Motorcyclists
If you're driving a motorcycle in Britain, here are some important rules you must follow:
- On all journeys, the rider and passenger on a motorcycle, scooter or moped must wear a protective helmet.
- You must obey traffic light and road signals.
- Only one passenger can be carried and they must sit astride the vehicle on a proper seat, keeping both feet on the footrests.
- Make yourself as visible as possible from the side as well as the front and rear by wearing fluorescent clothing or strips, especially at night.
- You must not ride when under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
For more information on rules for motorists, visit the Highway Code (www.highwaycode.gov.uk/04.htm).
