Ryder Cup

Europe vs USA in a battle for golfing glory

If you love your golf there’s only one place to be this autumn and that’s the world famous Ryder Cup tournament in Wales.

The best golfers from Europe and the USA go head to head once again, this year at the testing Celtic Manor Resort near Newport in South Wales. The Twenty Ten Course has been specifically designed for the 2010 Ryder Cup. It combines nine spectacular new holes with nine remodelled holes from the original Robert Trent Jones Jnr-designed Wentwood Hills course.

The whole course is played along the floor of the Usk Valley with wonderful views in all directions along the valley and towards Caerleon. Water comes into play on nine holes creating some exciting risks which will test the skills of the golfers and make for a superb spectacle.

Colin Montgomerie is captaining the European team that will go head to head with a US team helmed by Corey Pavin. With the Americans looking to retain their 2008 title after three consecutive European victories, the tournament looks like it will prove to be a closely fought and thrilling contest.

And when the golf is finished, why not take some time to explore some of the surrounding region? Walk, ride or cycle in the beautiful Brecon Beacons National Park or sample the nightlife and culture in Wales’ vibrant capital Cardiff less than 20 miles from Newport.
