'Meet Yorkshire Food Heroes'
From 21-30 September, the ancient city of York hosts this tasty celebration of fine food and drink in and around some of the city's most historic venues.
‘Meet Yorkshire Food Heroes’ is the theme for this year’s event which will promote the great local producers and growers from the region.
From native award-winning goats’ cheese to Yorkshire seafood and game, it’s all about championing local ingredients and local talent.
As well as food from numerous producers showcasing the best of the region’s ingredients and culinary skills there are eclectic events taking place throughout the festival.
Sup an ale at the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) tent that serves delicious beer, try food from different eras at the time travelling historic dinner, sign up for cookery classes or eat an authentic Nepalese curry prepared by the local Ghurkha regiment.
The fun continues into the evening with a full programme of ‘Twilight Events’ including cocktail making demonstrations and nightly entertainment at the Fountain Café. During the festival, the café will host stands, bands, choirs, chutney makers, gardeners and dancers.
