Bristol Balloon Fiesta

The Bristol International Balloon Fiesta is a world-class hot air ballooning festival recognised as one of the UK’s top 5 outdoor events. The event has become an icon for Bristol, as synonymous with the city as Brunel’s famous Suspension Bridge. This year’s Fiesta will be staged from 12-15 August 2010.

Founded in 1978, the event is held in the rolling hills of Ashton Court on the edge of Bristol. Taking place over 4 days, it’s a hugely popular free event, attracting around half a million people from across the country and beyond. Why not join the crowds?

Marvel at the skies as they fill with over 150 balloons of all shapes and sizes. You’ll witness an unforgettable spectacle each morning and evening as the balloons take to the sky in mass ascents. And the event offers plenty of fabulous family entertainment on the ground too.

Some of the largest crowds come to the famous Night Glows on Thursday and Saturday evenings, when the balloons tether in the main arena and light up in sequence to music, like giant light bulbs.

Arena and air displays include the famous Red Arrows with their daredevil stunts. Over 250 stands, local and international food stalls, a funfair and loads of other entertainment complete the fun-packed festival.
