Europe’s biggest street party
Get down to the Notting Hill Carnival; London’s famous Caribbean festival and the largest street party in Europe – 29-30 August 2010.
Held each August Bank Holiday since 1966, the Notting Hill Carnival is the largest street festival in Europe with music firmly at the heart of the action. Hear everything from traditional steel bands, Soca and Calypso to the latest dub, drum ‘n’ bass, R&B and reggae blasting out from pumping static sound systems and moving floats.
Live stages also feature local bands, top international artists and sounds from around the world – Eddie Grant, Jamiroquai, Wyclef Jean, Courtney Pine and Burning Spear have been among the star-studded line up over the years.
So come and join the 20 miles of vibrant colourful costumes, over 40 static sound systems, hundreds of Caribbean food stalls, over 40,000 volunteers and over 1 million Notting Hill Carnival revellers!
The Notting Hill Carnival originated in 1964 as a way for Afro-Caribbean communities in London to celebrate their cultures and traditions and now attracts people from across London, the UK and from around the world.
