Glastonbury - a trip to the ancient, mystical heart of England

Glastonbury is the small Somerset town famous as the venue for the annual Glastonbury Festival. Worth a visit at any time of the year, you'll find a heady mix of English small-town charm, new-age, bohemian culture and captivating spiritual history.

Memory of Glastonbury

“As a cider fan I had to come to Glastonbury. It’s a totally different drink from the clear, fizzy stuff you find in most pubs. I walked up Glastonbury Tor at sunset with a bottle. It was like liquid sunshine. Perfect.”

Federico, Italy

Culture & heritage

Glastonbury is alive with a history that sits comfortably alongside colourful myth and legend. The Abbey was an early centre of pilgrimage and many believe King Arthur is buried amid the ruins. It is said that a young Christ also visited Glastonbury and that the Holy Grail is hidden nearby.

Quirky independent shops abound selling everything from healing crystals to cakes. Try Glastonbury’s weekly County Market which is great for homemade food and handicrafts.
