New Forest travel guide

The New Forest - the best of woodland, coast and moor

The New Forest National Park is celebrated for its ancient woodland and heathland first given protection by William the Conqueror nearly 1,000 years ago.

Memory of the New Forest

“The thing about the New Forest is it’s actually ancient! I cycled and walked among some of the most wonderful old trees."

Pierre, Avignon, France

Culture & heritage

Preserved and nurtured since it was declared a hunting forest by William the Conqueror in 1079, the New Forest remains protected to this day. You'll discover British naval history at Buckler's Hard where Admiral Nelson's ships were built and visit Beaulieu with its ancient abbey and classic car museum.

Tarikan

The New Forest's attractions offer something for everyone. The famous National Motor Museum explores our love affair with classic cars. In Rockbourne you'll find a Roman villa and at Eling Hill there's the only working tide mill in the UK. There are also miles of car-free cycle paths and relaxing woodland walks.
