Day 1: Grosmont Castle - Skenfrith Castle - White Castle

Istana Grosmont (Abergavenny)

This tour starts in Grosmont and the first of the three castles known as the castles of the 'Trilatera'. Sekitar 1130an, Raja Stephen menyatukan tiga istana untuk melindungi salah satu daripada laluan utama mengelilingi sempadan Inggeris dan Wales Utara. It is easy to see Grosmont Castle was the host to many battles.

Istana Skenfrith (Abergavenny)

From Grosmont Castle travel west to Skenfrith Castle, which is the only low-lying fortress of the three castles. Kemungkinan dibina sekitar 1070, Skenfrith dahulunya ibu negeri awam bagu pemerintah. Seperti kedua istana yang lain, Skenfrith diperlihara dengan baik di mana ciri-ciri aslinya masih wujud.

Istana White (Abergavenny)

Still in the area of Abergavenny and only a short drive away is the third castle in the trilogy. White Castle is the most visually impressive of the three castles; you enter via the drawbridge that leads into a marvellous inner courtyard.

Day 2: White Castle - Caldicot Castle - Coity Castle

Istana Caldicot (Caldicot)

Caldicot Castle has an interesting past; it was built by royalty in the Middle Ages and even once served as a Victorian family home. Istana Caldicot merupakan benteng yang dijaga rapi dengan dinding setebal sembilan kaki yang mengkagumkan dan terletak dalam kawasan desa seluas 55 ekar.

Istana Coity (Bridgend)

Heading further west to Bridgend, the final stop for day 2 is Coity Castle. Mengekalkan beberapa ciri-ciri bangsa Norman, pembinaan Istana Coity bermula pada kurun ke-11 dengan seksyen tambahan, termasuk dewan utama dan pintu gerbang tengah, yang ditambah pad kurun ke-14.

Istana Ogmore (Glamorgan)

Entering the Vale of Glamorgan you’ll find the remains of the Ogmore Castle alongside the River Ewenny. Istana ini dibina pada kurun ke-11 oleh William de Londres dan merupakan salah sebuah istana Norman dalam kawasan tersebut yang dikuasai oleh bangsa Welsh.

Istana Oxwich (Swansea)

This Tudor Mansion, created by Sir Rice Mansel and his son in the 16th century, offers expansive views of the area. Kehidupan mewah keluarga Mansel jelas kelihatan pada kerja-kerja rekaan yang masih ada pada Istana Oxwich, yang dahulunya dikenali dengan keagungannya.

Day 4: Oxwich Castle - Dinefwr Castle - Llawhaden Castle

Oxwich Castle - Dinefwr Castle: 23½ miles (37.9 km)
Dinefwr Castle - Llawhaden Castle: 38 miles (61.4 km)

Istana Dinefwr (Llandeilo)

Set within the Dinefwr Park and very close to Llandeilo village, Dinefwr Castle offers commanding views over the Tywi Valley. Istana ini mungkin pada mulanya dibina  dengan kayu sekitar 1155, dan diganti dengan batu pada kurun ke-13. Anda boleh menerokai istana melalui laluan dinding.

Istana Llawhaden (Narberth)

A short distance from Dinefwr Castle stands the three-storey Llawhaden Castle. Benteng tanah dan kayu “ringwork” ini dibina oleh Bishop Bernard pad kurun ke-12. Penambahan yang mengkagumkan dibina pada kurun ke-14, yang mana antaranya masih kekal hingga kini.
