Scotland’s largest walking festival
Cowalfest2010 Walking and Arts Festival is one of the largest and most varied walking festivals in Scotland.
Taking place between 8 and 17 October, the walks cover interest areas of wildlife, bird watching, drama, photography, art, history, heritage, folklore, tai chi, great gardens, great houses, potholing and more. And if you’re looking for a real challenge you can always try the six-day, 57-mile Cowal Way, a tough hill walk that runs the length of the Cowal Peninsula from Portavadie on Loch Fyne in the West to Inveruglas on Loch Lomond in the East.
You’ll find Cowal an ideal area for walking with a stirring landscape of sea lochs, glens, mountains and forests inhabited by red squirrels, red deer , otters, porpoises, dolphins and basking sharks. And when you’re tired of walking there are also associated cycle rides and arts, cultural, and social events.
