Festival Brazil

Events take place indoors and outdoors at the Southbank Centre including at the Royal Festival Hall, Hayward Gallery, riverside terraces and on rooftops overlooking the River Thames. All the events are ideally located for visiting other London hotspots such as the Big Ben and Houses of Parliament, the London Eye and the Tate Modern.

Over the summer the Southbank Centre site will be transformed to create unusual places for performance and activities and a fabulous carnival atmosphere. Look out for vibrant graphic and graffiti art which is central to the urban landscape of Brazil and enjoy internationally renowned Brazilian artists and performers as well as a new wave of young talent.

Highlights include:

• A spectacular pop-up venue built from raffia leaves by renowned designers, The Campana Brothers, famed for their vibrant furniture inspired by Brazilian street culture.
• One of Brazil’s great voices, Maria Bethânia, the ‘Soul of Brazil’, in a rare UK performance.
• Performance from Brazilian superstar musician, Gilberto Gi – a founding member of 1960s musical, cultural and political movement, Tropicália.
• Designer Gringo Cardia, who created the set and props for Cirque du Soleil’s touring show ‘Ovo’, brings Brazilian style to London, animating the site with street art and graphic design.
