The Green Man Festival

Britain's festival season is well and truly underway, and 19-22 August sees another festival circuit favourite return. The Green Man Festival takes place at the Glanusk Park estate in the Brecon Beacons, Wales.

This year’s festival sees more than 100 acts play indie, psychedelia, Americana and folk across 5 stages, while DJs playing everything from dub-reggae to modern electro will keep the party alive right through the night.

This year’s festival is headlined by the spectacular British rock band Doves, American rock band The Flaming Lips and American singer-songwriter Joanna Newsom. Also gracing the main stage are acts including the magnificent Tindersticks, breakthrough act of 2010 Mumford & Sons, folk starlet Laura Marling, Danish indie pop-rock group Efterklang.

And if that’s not enough, you can also expect appearances from John Grant, The Besnard Lakes, The Tallest Man On Earth, Johnny Flynn, Summer Camp, Chew Lips, Spencer McGarry Season, Sparrow and the Workshop, Jonathan Powell and Race Horses.

But the Green Man Festival doesn’t stop at great music. There are also art installations, literature and film tents, Welsh poetry, art and music, science, comedy and much more. There really is something for everyone – wind down with a relaxing massage at the Nature and Nurture massage area, or join one of the many impromptu jam sessions happening all weekend.

There’s plenty for the little ones to do at Green Man too. If you think your tot is a star of the future, point them in the right direction with some expert musical tuition from some of the many professional musicians at the festival. Or maybe they’d rather capture the fun with a helping hand from the two film-making crews teaching animation and documentary skills?

There are also workshops in bush craft, bike mechanics, jewellery making, toy making and extensive arts and crafts workshops. There’s a kids’ play area too a couple of minutes from the Family Camping area – so your little ones will be spoilt for choice.
