What is the National Accessible Scheme?

The National Accessible Scheme (NAS) - run by VisitBritain - is a nationally recognised rating to ensure that accommodation meets the needs of people with physical and sensory needs.

The scheme provides a set of Accessible Standards, against which accommodation providers are independently assessed and awarded a rating. The ratings are split into 3 categories for:

• Mobility impaired and disabled people 
• Visually impaired and blind people
• Hearing impaired and deaf people

The NAS covers all levels of mobility, hearing and visual impairment and because all of your or your families and friends needs are different, so are the requirements of our scheme. You can use the NAS symbols to guide you to accommodation which will suit your very personal requirements.

The aim of the scheme is to provide you with enough information to make an informed choice - so once you have decided on your location and type of accommodation i.e. self catering, hotel, caravan park then now is the time to look for the National Accessible Scheme logos.
