Deep inside the 6,000 year old mound lies one of the finest Neolithic dolmens in Europe. Older than the pyramids of Egypt, the 13m high mound is topped by a medieval chapel to make a picturesque high point in the Island. Nearby, a reconstructed Neolithic house and activity area bring the Stone Age to life. Archaeology and Geology galleries offer evidence of the island’s unique geology and a quarter of a million years of human occupation. A memorial to the slave workers of WWII is also on the site.
