The performing arts thrive in the region’s lively and multicultural atmosphere and as a result, Manchester has more theatres than any English city outside London. Check for big names like Peter Postlewaite, Tom Courtenay and Amanda Donohoe at The Royal Exchange Theatre. Or there’s the unique Library Theatre, more than fifty years young, where actors like Alan Rickman learned their craft.
