Fermanagh Lakelands

Fermanagh, situated in the north west of Ireland, is a true visitor’s paradise with plenty to see and do, giving you an unforgettable experience of diversity and quality.   In Fermanagh you can enjoy a relaxing day on the lake or for the more energetic, hill walking in the dramatic cliffs of Lough Navar or Cuilcagh Mountain Park.

Fermanagh is well known for its uncongested lakes – Lower and Upper Lough Erne – making them ideal for cruising and watersports.   The lakes, which cover one third of the county, are also stocked with an abundance of fish making angling a popular activity.

Fermanagh is also steeped with historic tradition boasting three National Trust properties of which Castlecoole has been accredited as one of the finest Neo-Classical houses in Ireland.   Other popular historic attractions include Enniskillen Castle, which houses the County Museum and the Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers Museum, Devenish Island with the ruins of a 12th-century round tower and Augustinian abbey and the Buttermarket Craft and Design Centre, which stands on the site of a beautifully restored 19th-century dairy market.

Culture and craftsmanship are also important to the natives of Fermanagh, hence the reason why it is home to world famous, award winning crafts.   The most renowned is that of Belleek Pottery, Ireland’s oldest pottery, reputed for its fine glazed porcelain.   Another famous craft in Fermanagh is the award winning Sheelin Irish Lace Museum, which is the only one of its kind in Northern Ireland displaying the largest collection of lace open to the public.

Fermanagh has many ‘hidden secrets’ for you to explore, for example, the magical underground of the Marble Arch Caves where the electrically powered boats glide you through the caverns to explore the vast array of stalactites and stalagmites.

Having spent your day exploring the beauty of Fermanagh you can enjoy some of the first class cuisine and relax to the sound of the sound of some traditional Irish music or dance the night away at one of the more vibrant nightclubs.

Whatever you desire, Fermanagh has it all, so come and experience one of the most stunning jewels in Ireland’s crown – a warm welcome awaits.
