Anstruther

Anstruther is part of the East Neuk network of idyllic fishing villages along the coast of Fife. These run from Earlsferry to Crail, and Anstruther has a bustling seafront which provides a haven for yachts.

The Fisheries Museum is housed in 16th-19th century buildings, tracing the history of fishing in Scotland with reconstructions of interiors, scenes of fishermen at work, photographs, models and equipment.

From May to September, there are boat trips to the Isle of May nature reserve, where visitors can see large numbers of seabirds including puffins and a colony of grey seals. Here there are the remains of a 12th century monastery and a lighthouse.

Cyclists and walkers can take advantage of the Fife coastal path and numerous cycle networks. There are 300 miles of cycle route along quiet country lanes, disused railway lines and forest tracks.
