Anglesey is the island just north of the mainland and accessible by the suspension bridges across the perilous Menai Straits.
Perhaps one of the most famous places to visit is the longest place name “Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch” - there are plenty of shopping opportunities here and a photo stop at the railway station!
The spectacular and diverse nature of Anglesey's coastline has enabled that most of the area is classified as an ‘Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB)’ beach lovers can choose from sweeping sandy beaches of Llanddwyn, Red Wharf Bay, Benllech and Cemaes, or the more intimate coves of Porth Swtan, Moelfre, Cable Bay and Porth Cwyfan. South Stack Cliffs is a bird reserve and over 4,000 seabirds breed on the cliffs at South Stack each year including puffins, guillemots, razorbills and choughs.
Beaumaris Castle is the most sophisticated example of medieval military architecture in Britain and has been recognised by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site as part of the Edward 1st ‘Iron Ring Castles’. Plas Newydd is one of the the UK’s finest mansion house settings with spectacular views towards Snowdonia and has the largest collection of Rex Whistler works.
