If you want a family day out with a difference, look no further than Go Ape! (www.goape.co.uk/) an award-winning high wire forest course of rope bridges, Tarzan swings and zip slides up to 40 feet in the air.
There are 12 courses in Britain: East Anglia; Cumbria; Bracknell; Dorset; Nottinghamshire; Gloucestershire; Cheshire; Derbyshire; Stirlingshire (Scotland); North Yorkshire; Surrey and Kent.
Anyone from the age of 10 upwards can experience the Go Ape! Courses. Working closely with conservationists, Go Ape is built considering the long-term health of the forest and the structures are designed to allow trees to grow unrestricted.
When you arrive at a Go Ape! course, you’ll be given full instructional safety training from an instructor. Once they’re happy you understand the procedures, you can set off for your adventure.
Each of the Go Ape courses are split into 5 or 6 separate zones. Up in the canopy, there is a spectacular assortment of rope bridges and Tarzan swings, and an exhilarating zip slide brings you back down to the forest floor at the end of every section.
There’s no time limit to complete the course so you can go at your own pace, although most people take around 3 hours. You can stop at any time, and instructors patrol the course regularly to give you help if you need it.
Go Ape! is open in most weather, and can be even more fun when it rains! So come to Britain, where you can explore the forests without ever touching the ground.
