Mr Bhatti on Chutti

Mr Bhatti on Holiday

There’s a new Bollywood blockbuster in town, and it’s set in Britain. The beautiful Lake District in Cumbria provides the backdrop for ‘Mr Bhatti on Chutti’, starring Anupam Kher, one of the biggest stars of Indian cinema.

‘Mr Bhatti on Chutti’ (which translates as ‘Mr Bhatti on Holiday’) tells the tale of a group of Indian tourists who visit the Lakes, but become mixed up in the saga of a missing British woman. As the search gets underway, a comedy of errors unfolds and lots of secrets are revealed. Anupam Kher plays Mr Bhatti – he’s also starred in Bend it Like Beckham and Bride and Prejudice.

The blockbuster was mainly filmed around Windermere, home to the largest natural lake in England. The Lake District was chosen for its dramatic views, and it’s not hard to see why. With 16 sparkling lakes, the scenery has inspired the work of many writers and poets, including William Wordsworth and Beatrix Potter – in fact, the hit film Miss Potter was filmed in Cumbria too.

So when you come to Britain, visit Cumbria, and see the beautiful film locations for yourself. It’s a great place to go if you’re an adventure enthusiast, with some of the best walking and climbing routes in England. Only five peaks in England are over 900m and they’re all in Cumbria. There’s also the magnificent newly opened path along Hadrian’s Wall – a World Heritage Site and the most important monument built by the Romans in Britain.
