Taste Lancashire 08

Lancashire hotpot

In 2008, the county of Lancashire is celebrating great local produce with Taste Lancashire 08. In partnership with Liverpool’s European Capital of Culture 08 celebrations, the Lancashire and Blackpool Tourist Board is organising a whole host of events and activities centred on its delicious local delicacies.

Lancashire is renowned for its Morecambe Bay potted shrimps, Lancashire cheese, Lancashire hotpot, Goosnargh chicken, lamb and beef from Bowland and drinks including Sarsaparilla. Many of the events are in partnership with local produce champions Made in Lancashire and Liverpool's fine eateries. You’ll find stalls from Liverpool at farmers’ markets in Lancashire and at many of the existing and well-supported food festivals.

Lancashire’s reputation for its range of produce is not surprising considering the county has two areas of outstanding natural beauty - the Forest of Bowland and Arnside and Silverdale, not to mention the West Pennine Moors and 137 miles of coastline including the world famous resort of Blackpool.

Taste Lancashire 08 was launched in October 2007 in Garstang when the world’s biggest Lancashire hotpot was created for the Guinness World Records.
