Wales is equally blessed with an extensive collection of national museums. In 2007 the National Museums Wales (www.nmgw.ac.uk ) celebrates its centenary. Visit the National Museum Cardiff (www.museumwales.ac.uk/en/cardiff/) in Europe’s youngest capital city to enjoy Faces of Wales, an exhibition of portraits and sculptures of people who have contributed to the cultural, political and economic face of Wales over the past 500 years.

In Edinburgh there are five main galleries alone including the Dean Gallery (www.natgalscot.ac.uk/visit/page/2:118:4), National Gallery of Scotland, Scottish National Portrait Gallery (www.natgalscot.ac.uk/visit/page/2:298:3) which provides a unique visual history of Scotland, told through portraits of the figures who shaped it: royals and rebels, poets and philosophers, heroes and villains.
